ZOOLOOK presents Dread & Alive™ – Nine Night™
Drew McIntosh™ is the superhero with an African face
Dread & Alive™ is a supernatural horror series spanning comic books, novels, & music featuring the black superhero, Drew McIntosh. Dread & Alive is created, written, produced, and published by mixed-media artist, Nicholas Da Silva, who works under his artist name, ZOOLOOK™. ZOOLOOK’s Dread & Alive introduces the first Jamaican superhero in comics, with its protagonist, Drew McIntosh, while featuring a black comic book series steeped in West African Spirituality.
In Dread & Alive, ZOOLOOK meshes cultural fact with fiction while introducing the Maroons of Jamaica, who resisted enslavement by the colonial British, and their ancestors, the Akan and Ashanti (Asante) People of present-day Ghana.
In Dread & Alive, the protagonist and soul rebel, Drew McIntosh, is the embodiment of fighting for equal rights and justice.
ZOOLOOK is currently working on the next story arc of Dread & Alive™ entitled Nine Night™. In this 12-issue maxi-series, Nine Night (aka the ‘dead yard’ or ‘set up’), the funerary tradition or wake in Jamaica, takes on a whole new meaning when Shadowcatcher™ descends upon The City, seeking divine retribution. The shapeshifting Obeahman has come to take back his amulet while seeking a bigger prize… the soul of Drew McIntosh.
It’s War inna Babylon as Drew McIntosh and Shadowcatcher clash in an apocalyptic battle between good and evil. Drew must protect the amulet and learn to survive Nine Night or be doomed to walk the earth as a duppy.
